Target opens huge 33,000 store in Union Square

Target has made a strategic move in the Big Apple. The retail giant has just opened up a new location in Union Square. Interestingly, the opening comes just days after their East Harlem store shuttered, citing theft and organized retail crime as the reasons for the closure.

Locals are scratching their heads over this decision, with many storefronts still sitting empty in Union Square, while Mayor Adams enthusiastically attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new location. Up in East Harlem, construction workers were seen boarding up the now-vacant store, leaving residents to wonder why new stores continue to open, while others struggle to stay afloat. It’s a tale of two Targets in the City That Never Sleeps. Like many of its stores, this will sell household goods, clothing, electronics, and more. From fresh groceries to beauty products, kitchen appliances to furniture, there’s something for everyone.

The Union Square location occupies a whopping 33,000 square feet of prime real estate which offers yet another discount department store for budget-savvy New Yorkers. This newest addition marks Target’s third foray into the city in less than a year, joining locations in Brooklyn and Long Island City. As mentioned though, not every NYC location has proven to be a success. The new location is at 10 Union Square E, New York, NY 10003.
