Image shows complete demolition of Ryan’s on Brevard Road

Ryan’s buffet has been closed for a few years now. If you expected a new occupant of the location then those hopes may have vanished as the building was completely demolished yesterday. This was confirmed by a photo that circulated on social media. Here, it showed a large pile of bricks and rubble of what used to be Ryan’s.

This image also symbolizes the change in the area, as it was also previously occupied by a nearby K-Mart which has also since closed down. In short, while Asheville’s property rental scene may be thriving, the same cannot be said for some of its commercial properties.

The image was originally shared on Reddit which naturally got locals speculating about the future of the site. As of the time of writing, there are no plans for a replacement venue to take up occupancy in the space. Nonetheless, as is often the case with retail plots, things can change very quickly. At one point, it is believed that a Chick-fil-A shop would be replacing Ryan’s however those plans have seemingly been put on hold for the time being.

Although long gone, Ryan’s was an American-style buffet restaurant chain known for offering a diverse array of dishes. Their menu typically featured a range of meats, including fried chicken, roast beef, pork chops, and occasionally seafood like fried fish or shrimp. Complementing these main courses were various vegetables, such as green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese.
