Yesterday, shocked Baton Rouge residents reported sights of military jets seen in the city skies. Here, three planes flew in unison toward New Orleans. These were accompanied by very loud noises which is typical of their model, the F-15C. Naturally, people may have been curious as to why these fighter jets were flying in Baton Rouge of all places. It turns out that the explanation is quite mundane and shouldn’t be the cause for concern.

It turns out that these were doing a routine flight and were heading toward the 159th Fighter Wing Louisiana Air National Guard based in Belle Chase, New Orleans. Although a rare sighting, similar incidents happen fairly often around the country near various air bases. The photo below was shared on Reddit where users expressed their excitement at seeing the jets in Baton Rouge.

This all-weather air superiority fighter was designed to gain and maintain air superiority in aerial combat, and it quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional speed, range, and maneuverability. The F-15C is equipped with a range of weapons, including air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles, as well as a 20mm Gatling gun, making it a formidable opponent in any aerial engagement.
