Gaming bar Cloak and Blaster to close after 10 years of business

After nearly a decade of fostering a vibrant tabletop gaming community, Cloak and Blaster, a cornerstone of the Orlando-area entertainment scene, has made the difficult decision to close its doors later this month.

The establishment, which initially found its home on 875 Woodbury Road before relocating to the UCF area’s Corporate Boulevard, pioneered the unique concept of a synergistic social hub where patrons could enjoy beverages and engage in immersive, D&D-style gaming experiences under one roof.

Speaking on Instagram, the bar made a touching post that read: ‘We never wanted this dream to end, but it has become our devastating reality that we are unable to continue The Cloak and Blaster. Soon we’ll announce our closing date and details on specials in the final days.’

Cloak and Blaster’s management cites a confluence of factors for the closure, including steadily escalating rent and operating costs, coupled with financial strains resulting from the pandemic. Despite their valiant efforts, these challenges have proven insurmountable, ultimately leading to the bittersweet decision to wind down operations.

The establishment will remain open throughout most of January, offering guests one last opportunity to savor the Cloak and Blaster experience. Official closing date and details regarding potential inventory clearance sales will be announced later this week.
