The U.S. Census Bureau recently released its latest data on median home values across American towns, effective July 1, 2022. This represents the first official dataset reflecting the impact of the economy and subsequent housing market boom on home prices. Notably, the data reveals that Upstate New York continues to harbor a unique housing landscape, with a multitude of towns still boasting median home values below $100,000 – a rarity in most other states. The list is as follows:

Interestingly, the bulk of these towns lie within the Southern Tier, Central New York, or North Country regions of the state. Notably, none fall within a three-hour driving radius of New York City.

It is also worth noting that several previously affordable New York towns, such as Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Binghamton, have witnessed median home values exceeding $100,000 since 2020.
