Military helicopters seen flying over Colorado skies
Yesterday, Colorado residents may have seen a group of four helicopters flying through the skies. These included different variations of aircraft that were going at significant speed. Naturally, this led some residents to wonder about their presence in the area. Fear not, this wasn’t anything to do with the military and was actually to do with a big sporting event.
In short, the Denver Broncos were playing in the NFL where they beat the Los Angeles Chargers 16-9. The helicopters were in town as part of a ceremonial flyover which is tradition with NFL games. Here, they often feature flyovers by military aircraft as a way to honor the men and women who serve in the armed forces. The video below was captured by a shocked resident who captured the footage as the choppers returned to the nearby Buckley air base.
Some of the helicopters involved included the iconic Sikorsky Black Hawk. The Black Hawk helicopter, officially known as the UH-60 Black Hawk, is a multi-purpose helicopter that has a rich history dating back to the 1970s when it was designed to replace the Army’s aging Huey helicopters. The price of a Black Hawk varies depending on the model and its equipment, but a basic UH-60 Black Hawk can cost upwards of $20 million.
