Brutal image shows derelict Le Happy building – As locals call it ‘metaphor for the city’

Once upon a time, Portland locals would dine out at Le Happy which offered crepes and cocktails in a friendly setting. Arguably, this unusual eatery summed up Portland as it was a bit different and had bags of character.

A lot has changed since its closure, and the building was recently photographed and shared on Reddit. As seen below, it is now covered in graffiti and the once-lively spot now looks run down. Responding to this, many locals paid their respects, with one even going as far as to say that it was an “apt metaphor for the whole city.”

Here, several others agreed with them, with some even claiming that Portland had a victim mentality. While this may be taking things far, it’s fair to say that seeing this building in a state of disarray may ruin potential nostalgic memories of the place and shows that change is inevitable.

Based at 1011 NW 16th Ave, Le Happy was a popular restaurant located in Portland, Oregon, known for its cozy atmosphere and delicious French-inspired cuisine. Unfortunately, it has since closed its doors permanently, much to the disappointment of its loyal customers. Le Happy was beloved by many for its intimate dining room, its quirky decor, and its mouthwatering dishes, which included classic French favorites like escargots, steak frites, and crème brûlée.
