Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards recently came under criticism after taking credit for state income rises. Edwards mentioned this on his Twitter account, where he brazenly stated: ‘Louisiana families are much better off and taking home more money in their paychecks thanks to Gov. Edwards investments in our talented and diverse workforce. #lagov #56for56’

This was accompanied by another statement that further sang his praises, stating record growth under his administration. While Edwards was less than humble, it looks as though his constituents were quick to humble him.

Responding to this, one user named Elbert quipped: “Under Governor Edwards, Louisiana’s economic performance is ranked among the worst in the nation: WalletHub: 50th•CNBC:49th•Forbes: 49th (Economic Climate)•U.S. News & World Report: 49th•24/7 Wall St.: 47th.” This was based on stats from elsewhere that went against the claims of Edwards.

However, user Essie Kays attacked Edwards for cultural reasons as opposed to economic ones, due to the governor recently pardoning local murders. Here, they said: “If but one of the murderers you pardoned commits murder upon being unleashed back into society, you should be charged as an accessory and coconspirator. US: conspiracy, complicity based on a reasonably predictable outcome.”

This shows that Edwards may be optimistic about his state but clearly, not everyone is as optimistic about him.
