Fire breaks out at substation near French Broad River Park – And locals are blaming Trump supporters

The Asheville Fire Department extinguished a fire on the afternoon of December 24, 2023, in the vicinity of the French Broad River. The blaze, which originated at 1:20 p.m. at 98 Desota Street, was contained by 2:30 p.m. with no reported injuries.

Responding units from the Asheville Fire Department, Buncombe County fire departments, and the North Carolina Forest Service effectively contained the fire. The Asheville Fire Department spokesperson attributed the rapid containment to the swift arrival and collaboration of firefighters. As seen below, at one point the blaze had grown significantly.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. However, on social media, locals have blamed local Trump supporters. Over on Reddit, one user claimed: “More trump traitors sabotaging infrastructure?” Similarly, another user went on to add: “I would honestly not be surprised if any of the insane political cults sabotaged our infrastructure. There are plenty of people eager to inconvenience and/or harm others to further their extreme political positions and we’ve got a pretty substantial representation of the full range of irrational true-believers around here.”

While this has not been proven and is merely a conspiracy at this point, it looks as though this idea has gained traction in certain parts of Asheville. Unfortunately, it looks as though this city is more divided than ever.
