Two days ago, Federal Donuts announced that they are closing their Whole Foods location in central Philadelphia. This announcement was made on their Instagram account and may come as a surprise to many, as this location was often viewed as successful by the public.

The announcement read as follows: ‘To all of our valued customers. We are sorry to announce that Sunday, December 24th will be our last day at Whole Foods Philly Center City. It’s been an absolute pleasure to serve you over the last six years and we are so grateful for your continued support and patronage!’

The statement ended by also pointing out that their nearby Parkway location would remain open, which encouraged customers to visit as an alternative. so it’s not all bad news but this may be of inconvenience for those close to the Whole Foods location.

Aside from the emotional statement, Federal Donut did not disclose why they were closing. However, it could be due to the Amazon lockers installed in the same vicinity that may have negatively impacted their business. Over the years, Federal Donut gained a stellar reputation in Philadelphia as one of the best donut shops. With this said, it’s understandable why some customers may be upset by news of its closure.
