Detroit still waits on its first Jollibee – As the opening date is now set for next year

Much anticipation surrounded the 2021 announcement of Jollibee, a renowned Filipino fast-food chain, expanding to Michigan. This anticipation crescendoed in recent months with the expected October opening of its Sterling Heights location, unfortunately falling short of realization.

Plans for the establishment materialized two years ago at a city council meeting, outlining the demolition of the Denny’s at 44945 Woodridge Dr. and its replacement with a modern, 2,500-square-foot Jollibee edifice. As per the company website, the Sterling Heights location is now anticipated to open its doors sometime in winter 2024.

This marks the third occasion this autumn that the opening date has been revised. Naturally, Detroit locals may wonder whether the new deadline will be met given the context of the past few years. Furthermore, it also means that at the earliest, the eatery will not open until next Winter at the earliest.

Despite the delayed launch, the near completion of the space offers promising prospects. Customers at the Sterling Heights location can anticipate convenient drive-thru service, relaxing outdoor patio seating, and the ease of home delivery.

Jollibee opened its first US location in Daly City, California in 1998, and has expanded to multiple locations across the USA, including in states like Nevada, Hawaii, Texas, and Illinois. The chain has gained a loyal following among Filipino-Americans, who appreciate the taste of home that Jollibee’s menu brings.
