A new study has shown how much the average college employee gets paid at the differing universities across the state. In total, this looked at all 16 colleges in Arkansas and added up the wages of all the workers at each establishment.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, the lowest-paid colleges were Rich Mountain and Texarkana which are both community colleges. The average salary at each of these was $22,007 and $24,528. This is under the national average wage and shows that sometimes, it doesn’t pay to be employed as an academic. The full findings can be seen below in more detail.

On the other end of the scale was the University of Arkansas System which paid an average of $85,632 per year. This is well above the national average wage and is significantly higher than the average Arkansas salary. Overall, the average salary of the entire 16 colleges equaled $48,877. The data was originally collected here and was conducted throughout 2022.

Perhaps on a larger note, this shows how little certain colleges pay when it comes to education. Typically, most people think of academics as being fairly well-paid. However, this is not always the case. Arguably, when investing in education, you are investing in the future. However, this may not be the case when it comes to Arkansas.
