Lafayette Brewing announces permanent closure
Originally founded back in 2012 under a different name, Lafayette Brewing recently announced its permanent closure. In fact, as of two days ago, it has now gone forever. This may come as a shock to some, seeing as it was viewed as one of the best breweries in Buffalo.
The announcement was first made on their Instagram page earlier in the month. This said: ‘As some of you may have heard, Lafayette Brewing Company will not be renewing our lease at the end of the year. It is with a heavy heart we announce our last day will be Sunday December 17th, 2023. We appreciate everyone who has supported us for all these years and will miss those who have become family. Stop by and grab a beer and some food! We will continue to serve Wednesday through Sundays hoping to see some old friends.’
Since then, their official website has also been updated, mentioning that it has closed. However, it also mentions that their other locations (Riverworks and Pearl Street) are still open for business as usual. Interestingly, the statement announcing the closure did not disclose why the brewery had suddenly decided to close. Having said this, one can assume that it may be financially motivated rather than financially due to the fact that their other breweries have remained open.
