Kim Reynolds criticized over trumped up energy claims

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds was recently criticized over trumped-up energy claims regarding renewable energy in the state. Speaking on her personal Twitter account, Reynolds was quick to praise the energy sector in Iowa but not everyone agreed. In fact, many of her constituents used this to criticize her and point out the inaccuracies in her statement.

Specifically, Reynolds wrote: ‘Iowa has a long history of supporting and advancing the energy sector! Iowa’s position of leadership in renewable energy goes far beyond one person. From establishing an E15 standard to our world-class research institutions, Iowa has cemented itself as a true energy powerhouse.’

Replying to this, one user named Marie Atreides claimed: “Iowa may support it, but you don’t. Which is why you turned down federal funds for climate change prevention. You certainly don’t support the world-class research institutions. You demonize education and universities as woke and only stand for ethanol for the campaign donations.”

Elsewhere, another user named David Thoreson stated: “Hmmm. No mention of clean #windenergy which supplies 60% of Iowa’s energy needs. Wonder why? #Ethanol is favored over real clean renewable energy (think solar) but pollutes all Iowa waters in production. Big Ag doesn’t care, loves subsidies.”

Unfortunately for Reynolds, it looks as though some people simply weren’t buying her argument regarding Iowa’s renewable energy for a variety of reasons.
