Vested Coffee announces closure of 2 locations – But their other shop will stay open

In 2019, Susan and Nolan Dees embarked on an exciting endeavor by opening Vested Coffee at 310 W. Eighth St. in the vibrant Garment District. Their passion for coffee and community led them to establish a second location the following year at 2501 Troost Ave. in Beacon Hill. Vested Coffee distinguished itself as one of Kansas City’s best coffee shops by serving Onyx Coffee and donating a remarkable 10% of its profits to local nonprofits and organizations.

The announcement to close two of the locations was made on their Instagram account. Here, Vested wrote: ‘Dear Vested Family, after 5 incredible years, it is with both gratitude and heavy hearts that we announce the closure of our Garment District location. Your support has been our greatest gift, and we cherish the countless memories shared over coffee. Join us until December 23rd to use any remaining gift cards, savor your favorite drinks, and share a final moment with the Vested crew. Thank you, Kansas City, for all of your friendship, love, and support – we will miss you dearly. We love you guys.’

However, on Friday, the Dees shared the disheartening news on social media that lease negotiations for their Garment District location had reached a standstill. Despite this setback, they reassured their patrons that the Beacon Hill location would remain open while they worked out the details. Vested Coffee has become a beloved haven for coffee enthusiasts and community members alike, and the Dees’ unwavering commitment to their mission is a testament to their dedication.
