Tina Kotek blasted over ‘climate lunacy’ after spending $600 on Interstate Bridge

Yesterday, Oregon Governor Tina Kotek took to her personal Twitter to announce spending $600 on the renovation of the Interstate bridge. In a double swoop, Kotek also managed to shoehorn environmental issues into the project too. Naturally, this didn’t go down too well with certain constituents. As well, it didn’t help that this was yet another Portland-themed issue as Kotek has been accused of favoritism to Portland over the years.

Specifically, Kotek’s Tweet read: ‘This is a big moment for the PNW. Replacing the Interstate Bridge is a critical infrastructure investment that will advance our environmental goals and support local jobs.’

Replying to this, one user named Mike claimed: “According to engineers, the bridge is good for another 50 years. How about you fix/widen I-5 from Delta Park through the Rose Quarter? Quit shoving an unnecessary bridge & never-ending tolls on WA residents.”

Elsewhere, another user added: “I’m sick of “our” environmental goals. Almost every problem that we are experiencing is exacerbated by the climate lunacy.”

These were just a few of many comments which showed a growing discontent with Kotek. Not only will this project cost taxpayer money but it is also deemed by some as unnecessary. This shows that in politics, there’s no such thing as a free meal and that everything comes with a price.
