Greg Abbott criticized over Texas energy boasts
Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently took to his Twitter account to boast about Texas and its energy creation. He also praised the work ethic of Texans for making this possible. However, these boasts weren’t well received by everyone.
In fact, these prompted a number of criticisms in the comments section with many of his constituents mentioning how Texas had a lot of issues surrounding energy. If you have lived in Texas during extreme times of weather, then you may agree with these criticisms too.
Specifically, Abbott wrote: ‘Texas is America’s energy leader. Oil, gas, wind, and more power our state’s economic might thanks to hardworking Texans,’ which was accompanied by a slick promotional video.
Replying to this, one user named John stated: “Really! How is that possible when Texans can’t defend on their power staying on whether it’s the high summer temperatures or the extreme winter weather temperatures.”
Similarly, another constituent added: “Greg, How come Ercot can’t keep the power on in the winter? Last year my power was out for 3 1/2 days due to the same transform that went out in 2021. It was my electric company Greg, it was Ercot.”
Based on this, it seems as though Abbott’s definition of ‘leading’ is quite different from those who have suffered from poor energy issues over the last year. Nonetheless, the governor seems quite proud of the state of energy in Texas.
