If you asked people what would be one of the least likely things you would find in the frozen food aisle at a grocery store, a bearded dragon in a stroller would probably at least make the top 10. However, yesterday in Austin, Texas this is exactly what happened.

The bearded dragon was spotted beneath a blanket to keep him warm in a stroller with his own custom license plate bearing the name “Tuffy”.

However, some residents were not too happy, as they were concerned about the hygiene of bringing a bearded dragon into a grocery store. Bearded Dragons are known to carry Salmonella, so you must wash your hands after coming in contact with them.

For those wondering, the ideal temperature range for a bearded dragon is between 85°F to 100°F (29°C to 37°C) during the day, with a basking spot that can reach up to 105°F (40°C). However, if you plan to take a bearded dragon outside, you must make sure the outdoor temperature is within this range.

Temperatures should be avoided that are below 65°F (18°C) as bearded dragons are cold-blooded and can become stressed or sick if it’s too cold.
