Well known for its food and a fantastic selection of wine, unfortunately on December 17th the Pursuit Wine Bar & Kitchen will close its doors for the final time in Washington DC.

The Pursuit gave a fairly corporate response with their final message, thanking their customers, but had no real reference to staff. The reasoning given is that the venture is no longer sustainable, which could mean a variety of things, but it gives a clear message that the restaurant was not able to be as profitable as the owners had hoped.

Some residents were left disappointed and claimed that the Pursuit was much better in its previous location. Unfortunately, The Pursuit was victim to a speight of break-ins, which no doubt cost time and money to clear up, as well as pushing up insurance premiums.

Others were not so sympathetic towards the restaurant, as it charged a 24% gratuity, both for dine-in and take-out orders. While this is not unheard of, it is definitely towards the top end of the range and is unnecessary for take-out food in general.
