Popular Eatery Fremont announces permanent closure after 8 years of business
In a shock announcement, the popular Chicago eatery Fremont has just announced that it is permanently closing. In a statement released on its Instagram page, Fremont claimed that it would be honoring its bookings until December 15 which is when it will permanently close.
The statement began by reading: ‘It’s with bittersweet emotions that we announce the end of an era; Fremont will be closing its doors. After eight wonderful years, we have made the difficult decision to cease our brunch operations effective immediately.’ The full statement can be seen below in more detail.
Despite a fairly long statement, Fremont failed to disclose why it was closing. Naturally, this led Chicagoans to speculate, with some claiming that it was struggling financially. Here, some also alluded that this could also be due to the notoriously expensive prices at the eatery. Nonetheless, the reality is that only Fremont themselves will know.
Over the years, Fremont was known for its stylish, contemporary American bistro that serves up a menu that included dishes like grilled octopus with fennel, arugula, and lemon, seared scallops with bacon, corn, and shiitake mushrooms, steak frites with Bearnaise sauce, chicken schnitzel with pickled cabbage and honey mustard, and braised pork shank with mustard greens and apples. In addition to the impressive food, Fremont also offers an excellent selection of craft cocktails, local beer, and wine.
