Dave’s Hot Chicken to open in Saint Paul

Following the recent closure of the Dairy Queen in St. Paul’s Highland Park neighborhood, the restaurant is undergoing renovations to transform into a Dave’s Hot Chicken outpost. Permits for plumbing and remodeling work at the location on 1959 Ford Parkway confirm the fast-casual, fried chicken chain’s imminent takeover.

Dave’s Hot Chicken is anticipated to be open for business in St. Paul by early next year, with a project permit indicating that the remodel will be completed in the first week of January. The first Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurant in the Twin Cities opened earlier this year in Minnetonka, and plans for a second location in Maple Grove have been announced.

The expansion of the chain in the Twin Cities region stems from the announcement last year by former NBA player Kris Humphries and his family that they intend to establish ten Dave’s Hot Chicken locations in the metro area.

Their menu features crispy, juicy chicken tenders and sandwiches that are coated in a signature hot sauce that ranges from mild to insanely spicy. The menu also includes sides like crinkle-cut fries, mac and cheese, and slaw.

The fried chicken chain was founded in 2017 and has experienced rapid growth, securing rights to over 700 franchise locations across the United States and Canada, with additional outposts in the Middle East. This latest change in the Highland Park neighborhood marks the continuation of Dairy Queen’s departures from the Twin Cities.
