Popular Seafood Restaurant to permanently close within weeks after 8 years of business
One of Jersey City’s most beloved seafood spots, Just Beclaws, will be permanently closing its doors on December 23rd. The restaurant, located at 280 First Street, announced the news via Instagram, citing “market conditions and other business considerations” as the reasons for the closure.
Just Beclaws first opened its doors in June 2015, offering a unique blend of Vietnamese and Cajun seafood dishes. The Tran brothers, Nambinh and Francis, created a menu that quickly became a favorite among locals, featuring lobster rolls, crawfish, Alaskan crab, gumbo, and more. The restaurant’s signature “main event” allowed diners to customize their seafood platters, selecting from a variety of crabs, crawfish, clams, and other shellfish by the pound. The food was then prepared and delivered in a steaming plastic bag with the seasoning of your choice.
As one of downtown Jersey City’s first major restaurant openings, Just Beclaws quickly established itself as a local institution. The BYOB restaurant was a popular spot for both casual gatherings and special occasions, and it was a regular participant in various food festivals, including the All About Downtown Food Festival.
