This iconic Bar was meant to re-open this year – But now locals are wondering if it will re-open at all

Earlier in the year, Washington D.C’s Lucky Bar temporarily closed and put up signs on its doors reading ‘Lucky Bar will return in 2023. Under renovation.’ Unfortunately for fans of the venue, its social media pages have not been updated to give any clues in terms of what is going on.

Because of this, some locals have taken to other forms of social media to ask questions, such as whether Lucky Bar will actually be returning. In fairness, restaurant renovations can easily take longer than anticipated. Nonetheless, sometimes venues may temporarily close at first, only to never re-open.

Responding to the uncertainty, one Reddit user claimed: “The awesome Welsh guy who owned it sold. He bought the real estate decades ago when it was cheap and made his money back many times over. He deserved it. Watched many morning soccer games outside during COVID at Lucky Bar. There’s been a lot of rumors about what it is going to become but I don’t think anything has been confirmed.”

Located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington DC, it’s known for its great drinks, awesome bartenders, and lively atmosphere. Lucky Bar is especially popular among soccer fans, as it’s considered the original soccer bar destination in DC. It features multiple TVs showing games from around the world, and a lively crowd during matches. Aside from soccer, Lucky Bar also has a great happy hour, a fun ambiance during the week, and a wide selection of other sports on TV.
