A new Asian buffet looks to be on the horizon at the Mt. Pleasant Shopping Center at White and Story. This was confirmed after a passerby managed to take a photograph of the newly erected banner that reads ‘Hibachi buffet – sushi & grill. Coming soon.’ Aside from this, there is sadly no other information surrounding the opening as it seems this restaurant keeps a low profile on social media. Unfortunately, the term ‘coming soon’ could mean a few weeks or even months.

What is known is that Hibachi buffet looks to be a West Coast chain of restaurants that offer all-you-can-eat hibachi and sushi buffets. The menu varies by location, but generally includes a wide variety of hibachi grilled meats and vegetables, sushi rolls, sashimi, tempura, and other traditional Japanese dishes. You can expect to see options such as teriyaki chicken, beef and shrimp skewers, California rolls, spicy tuna rolls, edamame, miso soup, and more. Some locations also offer a variety of non-Japanese options, such as Chinese and American dishes.

For instance, there is also another branch in Fairfield that presumably serves similar food. This shows that the plaza is showing positive signs of life again after recently being purchased for $21.3 million. Because of this, this could mark the beginning of a new era.
