Burger chain plots new San Jose location

According to documents filed with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office, Shake Shack is going to open a restaurant at Bascom Square, a shopping center that sits on the border of San Jose and Campbell. This new location is just a few steps away from eBay headquarters and close to the Bascom Station residential and retail project, which is currently under construction.

Bascom Square is currently home to businesses like a Starbucks, Noah’s Bagels, Jamba Juice, and a Tech Credit Union office. The space that Shake Shack is taking over was previously occupied by the Boston Market chicken-and-more restaurant, which closed down a few months ago.

Shake Shack already has two other Bay Area locations, which both opened in December 2023. One is located at Oakridge Mall in South San Jose, and the other is at the Stonestown Galleria in San Francisco.

Shake Shack was originally founded as a hot-dog cart in a New York City park, but it quickly became known for its all-natural Angus beef burgers. Despite the fact that Shake Shack is known for its burgers, their menu still features their all-natural Vienna beef “flat-top dog” along with cage-free chicken sandwiches, crinkle-cut French fries, and hand-spun milkshakes.

Shake Shack’s new location at Bascom Square is expected to be a popular spot for eBay employees and residents of the surrounding area. The restaurant is also likely to attract visitors from other parts of the South Bay.
