Burrito Restaurant to open first Newark Location
A beloved fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain is set to make its Downtown Newark debut, bringing its unique blend of flavors and customizable entrees to the vibrant city. Bubbakoo’s Burritos, renowned for its fresh ingredients and made-to-order dishes, is slated to open its doors within a recently developed complex.
The Newark Historic Preservation Commission recently granted approval for the restaurant’s signage application, paving the way for its establishment at 48 New Street. Founded in 2008 by Paul Altero and Bill Hart, Bubbakoo’s Burritos has been a staple in the New Jersey dining scene, capturing the essence of the state’s skater and shore culture.
With over 40 locations across New Jersey, Bubbakoo’s Burritos has steadily expanded its reach, making its Jersey City debut in Journal Square last year. The restaurant has also established a presence in dozens of locations across 10 different states, solidifying its reputation as a beloved fast-casual dining destination.
Bubbakoo’s Burritos prides itself on its customizable menu, offering a diverse array of entrees tailored to each guest’s preferences. Diners can choose from a selection of burritos, bowls, quesadillas, trios of tacos, nachos, taco salads, or the restaurant’s signature chiwawa, a delectable creation featuring a lightly fried panko-crusted cheesy rice ball topped with nacho cheese.
To satisfy every palate, Bubbakoo’s Burritos offers 16 distinct protein options to fill your chosen entrée, including barbeque shredded chicken, general Tso’s chicken, sriracha pork, veggie patty, hibachi steak, or sweet chili shrimp.
The Newark outpost of Bubbakoo’s Burritos is poised to capitalize on the vibrant foot traffic of Rutgers Newark, joining McGovern’s Tavern and a Jersey Mike’s outpost within the New Street property.
