New BBQ Restaurant opens in Somerville’s Union Square
A new barbecue joint, Wade BBQ, has fired up its grills in Somerville, filling the void left by a vegan Mediterranean restaurant that shuttered earlier this year. Speaking on Instagram, Wade BBQ made the announcement: ‘Opening weekend at WADE BBQ. Come on down to 5 Sanborn Court in Somerville and get your plate. Hope to see everyone soon.’
In a smart move, Wade BBQ was financed through public donations. Here, the owner David Wade used crowdfunding to build his spot. In return, those who initially invested would be given a 120% return when using their eatery, effectively turning their investment into a 20% discount. This move generated tens of thousands and was also a nice touch for Boston locals who are fond of eating BBQ.
According to a post in the Friends of Boston’s Hidden Restaurants Facebook group, Wade BBQ has taken over the former Littleburg space on Sanborn Court in Union Square. The new eatery tantalizes taste buds with a menu featuring chili, pulled pork, wings, ribs, burnt ends, brisket, sausage, smoked chicken and turkey, wings, macaroni and cheese, and more.
Littleburg, which initially operated as a pop-up venture in 2017, transitioned into a brick-and-mortar establishment in the summer of 2021. Wade BBQ is located at 5 Sanborn Court, Somerville, MA, 02143.
