Wild Bobcat sighted in East Bay area

Over the weekend, a Bay Area local managed to snap a photograph of a Bobcat located in the grass. News of the sighting was shared on Reddit which quickly led to the excitement of locals. Here, one even went as far as to claim: “I’ve lived in the Bay Area for a long time, and I’ve seen all sorts of animals, but I’ve never seen a Bobcat in real life. One day! Thanks for the pics.”

However, one user argued that Bobcats could frequently be sighted on the Tilden Inspiration Point trail during the morning, as well as the Diablo Range. Sometimes, they may be closer than you think and rely on camouflage to go undetected.

Bobcat sightings are fairly uncommon in the East Bay region of the Bay Area, and few people have reported seeing them in parks and other natural areas. Bobcats are adaptable animals and have been known to live in urban areas, although they prefer to live in areas with plenty of cover and prey.

They are most active at dusk and dawn, so if you’re out and about in the East Bay during those times, you might be lucky enough to spot one. However, it’s important to remember that Bobcats are wild animals and should not be approached or fed. Having said this, generally, Bobcats are generally not considered a threat to humans
