New Bulgarian Bakery opens in Pittsburgh
After years of delighting Pittsburghers at local farmers markets, Jak’s Bakery is finally setting down roots in Bloomfield. Owner and baker Zhelyazko (Jak) Latinov and his wife and co-owner Molly Freedman Latinova are thrilled to announce the grand opening of their storefront at 4310 Main St. which occurred on Sunday, Nov. 26, at 7 a.m.
Jak’s Bakery is a haven for pastry lovers, offering a tantalizing array of sweet and savory treats crafted fresh daily by hand. Their signature creations include hand-pulled phyllo dough pastries with both savory fillings (ricotta-feta or spinach-feta) and sweet fillings (pumpkin or apple-walnut).
For those seeking savory delights, Jak’s Bakery also offers an enticing selection of savory yeasted pastries. Indulge in cheesy pull-breads, tangy pickle pizzas, or hearty kielbasa rolls. For a taste of sweetness, satisfy your cravings with Nutella, rosehip jam, or halva filled kifla (a crescent-roll-like pastry) or pogacha, a decadent baklava-inspired cake. Many of Jak’s Bakery’s delectable creations can be customized to suit vegan preferences.
Located conveniently next door to Trace Brewing, a local hotspot for coffee and beer, Jak’s Bakery is the perfect destination for a quick bite or a leisurely indulgence. Pre-order pickup options are also available for those on the go.
Jak’s Bakery is not just a new addition to the neighborhood; it’s a testament to the power of passion and tradition. With over 20 years of experience as a baker in his native Bulgaria, Zhelyazko (Jak) Latinov opened Jak’s Bakery in 2019, bringing the rich flavors and time-honored techniques of Bulgarian baking to Pittsburgh.
