Churchill Downs Inc. is expanding its gaming footprint in Louisville with the opening of its second Derby City Gaming location. The new facility, located at 140 S. 4th St. in downtown Louisville, is scheduled to open on December 6, 2023.

The 43,000-square-foot entertainment venue will feature 500 historical racing machines, a fresh air gaming area, a sports bar, a bourbon library, a wine and charcuterie lounge, and a stage for live music. The business is expected to create 100 permanent jobs in Louisville.

The opening of the new Derby City Gaming location comes just ahead of the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby, which is scheduled for May 4, 2024. The company also opened its first Derby City Gaming location on Poplar Level Road in June 2023.

The expansion of Churchill Downs’ gaming business is part of the company’s broader strategy to diversify its revenue streams and capitalize on the growing popularity of sports betting. In addition to its historical racing machines, Derby City Gaming also offers pari-mutuel wagering on horse races.

The new Derby City Gaming location is expected to be a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. The venue is located in a vibrant part of downtown Louisville and is easily accessible from the Kentucky Derby track.
