Beloved Cafe quietly closes down after 11 years of business

After weathering the pandemic and serving the community for over a decade, Bryant Corner Cafe and Bakery finally bid farewell on October 30, 2023. Despite being weeks ago, many wouldn’t know it, as its closure was quiet and under-reported.

The beloved neighborhood eatery, formerly known as Sunflour Cafe since the 1990s, underwent a name change in 2013 and quickly became a cherished gathering spot. Over the years, they delighted patrons with their Swedish pancakes drizzled in lingonberry sauce, fluffy French toast crafted with fresh orange wheat bread, decadent crab cake eggs benedict, hearty huevos rancheros, tater tot nachos piled high with toppings, homemade soups that warmed the soul, crispy fish and chips, comforting meatloaf, and a myriad of other culinary delights.

Despite their unwavering commitment to serving the community, a combination of rising costs, rent increases, and staffing and product shortages has taken a toll on the cafe’s operation and the owners’ personal lives. With a heavy heart, they have made the difficult decision to close their doors on October 30th.

Speaking on the closure, the owner claimed: “We are so grateful for the incredible support we have received from our customers over the years,” expressed the owners. “Your patronage has meant the world to us, and we will cherish the memories we have created together.” It is not known what will replace it.
