Today will be the last day of operation for one of Indianapolis’s best-loved coffee shops. Prufrock Coffee, located at 52/College recently made an emotional post on their Facebook page which announced their abrupt closure, where they wrote: ‘Dear friends and neighbors, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the tragic and sudden closure of our beloved shop Due to a profound hardship within the Prufrock family, it was decided that it would be best to close, effective immediately.’ A full screenshot of the statement can be seen below.

The post continued and thanked their customers for years of support. Prufrock was one of the city’s only woman-owned coffee shops. However, customers may still be scratching their heads regarding the context of the closure. Here, the shop did not state whether it was due to personal or financial reasons.

News of the closure was also made on the Instagram profile’s story where it said: ‘If you can come and bid us adieu, we are open 8-2 Prufrock coffee company, closing permanently 11/24.’ While the coffee shop will be sorely missed, it is not known what will be replacing the venue in the future. However, due to the location you would expect it to be something of a similar nature.
