Next month, Savannah’s Fox and Fig cafe will close next month after 6 years of business. This was first announced by a sign that appeared on their door this week. Here, it read: ‘Fox and Fig will also be closing permanently on December 1st, 2023. We have greatly appreciated all of your love and support over the years.’

Interestingly, this statement did not reference why it was closing which means this could be down to either personal or financial reasons. However, one insider on Reddit claimed it was going to re-open with new owners and new staff. Here, they wrote: “It will no longer be Fox and Fig, nor will it be vegan. New owners are correct, but the concept will be completely different. Employees were given less than two weeks’ notice to find new jobs right before the holidays and construction on the building will take at least a month if employees do wish to stay.” It should be known that this comment has not yet been verified as factual.

Founded in 2017, Fox and Fig described itself as Savannah’s premium vegan cafe which means its closure will come as bad news for the local vegan community. Over the years, Fox and Fig gained positive reviews in the city and was known as one of the best vegan eateries in the area.

Their menu was known for savory entrees, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. Some of their most popular items include the BBQ Jackfruit Sandwich, the Cajun Tofu Po’ Boy, and the Mac and Cheese.
