New Anime Store opens in Syracuse
This week has seen the opening of Otaku House in Destiny Mall. This store offers a diverse collection of Japanese-themed merchandise, encompassing anime collectibles, action figures, scale models, figurines, cuddly plush toys, stationery, and a variety of other distinctive items.
In short, if you’re into anime and manga culture, then this store could act as a bit of a safe haven for local nerds in Syracuse. As seen, the floor and walls are also decorated with artwork and pages from manga which is a nice touch. It also wouldn’t be a true Japanese shop without giant Pokemon plushes, including the likes of Charmander and Bulbasaur.
Although not yet confirmed, Otaku House has one review on Google which scored it 4/5. Here, the reviewer wrote: “Good store for anime merchandise but BEWARE: all merch is not officially licensed,” which may come as a disappointment for customers if this turns out to be true.
Rather intriguingly, Destiny Mall has also homed the Large Than Life store for a number of years. This is a much larger store that sells similar stock. Based on this, it will be interesting to see how Otaku House performs in the long run due to being under the shadow of a much bigger competitor. As mentioned though, this will be music to the ears of local anime fanatics looking to buy merchandise.
