After nearly two decades of serving San Francisco’s Western Addition, Little Star Pizza, a cherished deep-dish pizzeria, will be closing its doors at the end of the year. The restaurant’s original location at 846 Divisadero St. will cease operations, as announced on Instagram Sunday.

Here, it claimed: ‘With a heavy heart on this anniversary day, we announce that LS Divisadero will be closing at the end of this year. Now the good news…Little Star Valencia will remain open and ready to serve you.’

Little Star’s other two San Francisco locations in the Mission District and Albany will remain open. The Star, a related pizzeria, continues to operate in Oakland, Alameda, and Portland, Ore. Earlier in the year, the owner of Little Star claimed: “These companies will inevitably put a lot of small restaurants out of business,” which may allude to why it closed. However, more recently, the reason for the closure remains undisclosed.

Since its inception in 2004, Little Star has been a beloved neighborhood fixture, renowned for its thick, Chicago-style pizza. Arguably, it was regarded as one of the best pizzerias in the city. The restaurant later expanded its menu to include thin crust and trendy Detroit-style pies. At this point in time, it is not known what will replace the establishment when it leaves.
