Iconic Pizzeria closes its final location after decades of business
Less than a month after announcing the closure of its original Hillcrest location on Kavanaugh Boulevard, Damgoode Pies is now set to close its Cantrell store at 6706 Cantrell Road. This marks the end of its over twenty-year presence in Central Arkansas. However, the franchise location in Fayetteville at 37 E. Center St. will continue operations.
Founded in 2001 by Trine at 2701 Kavanaugh Blvd., Damgoode Pies quickly gained popularity for its unique double-crusted Stuffy pies topped with sauce. The eatery’s signature pink sauce, a blend of its original red and spicy white sauces, became a hit in the early 2000s. The pizzeria was also recognized for its relaxed atmosphere, affordable PBR, and humorous marquee signs.
Following the success of the Kavanaugh location, the Cantrell store was launched. In 2005, a delivery-only outlet was opened on Rodney Parham, and a decade later, in 2015, Trine inaugurated a brewpub in the old Boscos space in the River Market, which closed in 2020.
The Cantrell location of Damgoode Pies will be operational in a reduced capacity until Wednesday of this week. Damgoode Pies was known for serving Little Rock several signature pizzas. One of the most popular is the Buffalo Soldier, a spicy pie topped with buffalo sauce, chicken, and mozzarella cheese. In addition to these pizzas, Damgoode Pies also offers calzones, salads, and sandwiches, as well as the popular dessert option, the chocolate chip pizza.
