Beloved Board Game store quietly closes

One of Pasadena’s biggest board game stores has quietly closed. Despite having no media attention, it turns out that Gameology closed earlier in the month. While the store is still standing with Gameology signs inside, it is believed that new owners will be moving in at some point. However, the days of this being used as a gaming venue are now long gone.

According to one Reddit user who frequented the store, the shop closed shortly after ownership changed hands. Here, the user wrote: “They posted a quick goodbye message from their Instagram. It was pretty abrupt. the owner originally sold both locations (Pasadena and upland) but I think there was a lease dispute between the owner of the building and the new owner of the Pasadena store.” However, a quick glance at their Instagram page shows no mention of closing. Similarly, the website remains live.

In September, Gameology, a popular tabletop gaming store in Pasadena, California, underwent a change in ownership. Shortly thereafter, the new owners announced that the store would be closing its doors permanently at the end of October. This news came as a surprise to many loyal customers, as the store was always bustling with activity and held frequent late-night events. However, Game Odessey, another gaming store in Pasadena, remains open.
