A Korean supermarket in Irvine is set to close its doors soon. The Parkview location displayed a sign announcing its impending shutdown coming in a matter of weeks.

This news first came to light on Reddit, where community members engaged in discussions and conjectures about the reasons behind the closure. Zion Mart, however, has not provided specific details regarding the cause of this particular location’s shutdown, whether it be personal or financial.

Here, a sign outside the shop read: ‘After 10 years of serving the University Park community we have made the difficult decision to close our Parkview Center location in December. We are grateful to our loyal customers who have supported us over the years and to Irvine Company for helping create such a wonderful environment for our employees and customers. We hope you will visit us at our other Irvine location at 4800 Irvine Blvd.’ The sign can be seen below.

For enthusiasts of Korean cuisine, this is unfortunate news. Following December, the area will have one fewer Zion Market outlet. At this point in time, it is not known what will replace this particular Zion Mart location. Similarly, it is not known whether Zion Market will be re-opening a new location elsewhere.
