New bar and arcade bowling alley to open in Austin

The location at 4329 South Congress Avenue in East Congress has been purchased and is set to be transformed into a bowling alley, arcade, and bar.

Ohio-based Rise Brands is planning to open its entertainment and gaming venues, Pins Mechanical and 16-Bit bar and arcade, in the South Congress space. The facility is expected to feature 24 duckpin bowling lanes, over 30 pinball machines, and more than 40 arcade games, including classics like Frogger and NBA Jam. Additionally, the venue will house four bars, a courtyard, and two mezzanines designated for private events. The drink offerings will range from classic cocktails to unique house creations, like the s’mores old fashioned and the Chai Me a River, alongside a selection of wines and beers.

A representative of the company noted via email that “Austin aligns perfectly with the creative nature of the Pins brand.” Construction is slated to begin this year, with an opening target set for 2024.

SomeraRoad, a real estate investment and development firm, recently acquired the property and will lease it to these two entertainment entities. SomeraRoad purchased the site in early November from one of the original owners of St. Elmo Public Market, real estate developer Maker Bros.

This new development will replace the initially planned St. Elmo Public Market, which was intended to host a variety of prominent Austin restaurants. However, delays in construction and planning led to the withdrawal of most of these restaurants.
