Yesterday, Knoxville had an unexpected visitor when three F-16 fighter jets were spotted darting through the skies. This unusual sighting quickly caught the attention of locals, with videos of the military aircraft making rounds on social media. Such an occurrence is not a common sight in Knoxville, naturally sparking curiosity among residents.

The incident was also captured and shared on Reddit, where the individual filming the jet explained what they were doing. Here, they claimed the jets were used as part of a flyover for the University of Tennessee football game. Unfortunately for locals, the Tennessee Volunteers lost 10-38 to the Georgia Bulldogs. Nonetheless, the planes certainly did their job in providing a spectacle.

As seen, these flew right above a Knoxville neighborhood and made quite a loud noise. The F-16, known for its supersonic speed and single-engine design, is a prominent figure in the U.S. Air Force. First developed in the 1970s, it is celebrated for its versatility, agility, and advanced performance in various combat roles, ranging from air-to-air combat to air-to-ground attacks, and even electronic warfare.

Its sleek delta-wing design and the nickname ‘Viper’ add to its popularity among aviation fans and military personnel. Serving for over four decades, the F-16 remains a vital asset to the U.S. military.
