Van crashes into Rock Town Distillery fence – Causing mayhem in its wake
Early on Thursday morning, a white van crashed into the fence of Rock Town Distillery on South Main Street.
The vehicle caused considerable damage, demolishing a bus bench and a bike rack before wrecking a portion of the distillery’s iron fencing. In an attempt to free the van from the fence, the driver spun the tires, resulting in a significant amount of smoke. This was captured in the photo below, which shows just how severe the smoke was, as well as the damage sustained to the fence.
The owner of Rock Town estimated that repairing the fence would incur a cost of several thousand dollars. Despite the incident, the distillery went ahead with its annual holiday barrel lighting event last night, a tradition where a stack of bourbon barrels is arranged and lit up to mimic a Christmas tree. A staff member mentioned that the driver later left the van at a different location. News of the crash also went viral on Reddit.
Thankfully, no one was injured during the crash. If someone had been at the wrong place at the wrong time, this could have easily turned into a real tragedy.
Rock Town Distillery expressed gratitude on Facebook to the Downtown Little Rock Partnership Ambassador Program for their assistance in cleaning the parking lot. The distillery proceeded with its festive barrel tree lighting ceremony and the planned festive Home Alone movie screening.
