Gretchen Whitmer criticized over Michigan education comments
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer was recently criticized over comments she made regarding the education system in Michigan. Here, she claimed that the state had made great progress yet despite her claims, many disputed these.
Writing on Twitter, she said: ‘Michigan, let’s talk about education. My goal has always been to provide Michiganders with the best possible education from pre-K to postsecondary school, and we’ve made great progress.’ This created a heated debate in the comments section which gained over 100 comments. Here, many of them criticized Whitmer and disagreed with her positivity.
Replying to this, a user named Dixon was less than impressed and claimed: “Over half of the 3rd graders can’t pass the reading test. You’re a failure, Gretchen. You closed schools, libraries, parks. You very clearly do not care about the kids. You care about yourself, and creating PR, getting the limelight. Nothing else. Just you.”
Another user named Aaron quipped: “Yes let’s talk about education were 40th out of 50 states and your a joke as well as the people that voted for you.”
Perhaps the main difference between the Whitmer and the replies is that they also used facts that highlighted the plight of the education system in the state. Unfortunately for Whitmer, these were just a few of the comments with many disagreeing with her optimism.
