On November 15, the proprietors of Urban Grill on Main in Newtown announced the restaurant’s indefinite shutdown through a social media statement.

Situated on State Route 32 in Newtown, the eatery shared a public announcement on social media on Wednesday about its closure. Here, they wrote: ‘Sadly, we are announcing that Urban Grill has closed permanently. We will miss you and we thank you for your patronage, friendship, and support over the last seven years. Many families celebrated major life events here and we are happy to have been part of that with you. We’ve enjoyed many friendships which we would not otherwise have made, were it not for UG. Thank you.’

Urban Grill, which started in 2017 in a remodeled farmhouse from the 1870s at 6623 Main St. in Newtown, gained recognition for its daily homemade specials. These included wagyu beef burgers, wraps, tacos, salads, and desserts, as noted on their website.

Historically, the food truck associated with Urban Grill garnered positive reviews on platforms like Facebook and Yelp. With this in mind, it will certainly be missed.

While the owners did not pinpoint the exact reasons for shutting down, they encouraged ongoing support for local, independently run businesses.

As of this report, they have not provided any comments in response to inquiries.
