Kevin Stitt criticized after ‘photo op’ with Oklahoma National Guardsmen
Yesterday, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt visited the Oklahoma National Guardsmen who were stationed in Djibouti. Here, he took photos and paid support to the guardsmen and referenced this on his Twitter account. Specifically, he said: ‘It was incredible to meet with the Oklahoma National Guardsmen stationed in Djibouti. I’m eternally grateful for their unwavering service and sacrifice as they defend our freedoms overseas. God bless our troops!’
Although Stitt was clearly proud of the troops, the comments section didn’t agree and viewed it with cynicism. In fact, many asked why he had flown out in the first place and viewed his true motives for the visit.
Replying to his status and photo, one user replied: “Another photo op on Kevin’s taxpayer-funded tour of the world. On a positive note, you inspired me to make a donation. I really hope @The_USOhooks these soldiers up with some quality entertainment after a visit from the 3 stooges.”
On a similar note, another constituent claimed: “Governor Grift and Senator Can’t-Control-His-Emotions taking advantage of the fine National Guard for their photo op. Hacks!”
What was possibly meant to show solidarity among Oklahomans looked like it backfired as these were just a few of the comments that followed a similar tone.
