Chinatown Bar to permanently close after 10 years of business

Flight, a beloved bar in Chinatown known for its extensive and diverse global wine collection since its opening in 2014, is set to close next month. This will mean that its run lasted 10 years in total.

Beginning this week, the trendsetting wine bar in D.C. will highlight select wines from its extensive cellar on its To-Go Wall, a concept introduced this summer. This selection will feature small-batch, terroir-focused wines that have characterized Flight over the years, now available at discounted prices until the closing.

The last day for in-service dining at Flight Wine Bar will be Thursday, December 21. After the Christmas holiday, the bar will open for to-go wine and food sales from December 26 to December 30, between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. During this period, customers can still enjoy wine tastings and by-the-glass options while shopping. Flight will permanently close its doors on December 30, just short of celebrating its 10-year anniversary at 777 6th Street NW.

The Chinatown area, where Flight is located, has been significantly impacted by the pandemic, with its restaurant recovery lagging behind other parts of Washington D.C. Flight, situated in a predominantly office area, relied heavily on the after-work crowd for business. However, the shift towards working from home has notably reduced this customer base.
