Big Ditch Brewery to open new location next year
Buffalo is renowned for its vibrant food and drink scene. Given the region’s challenging lake effect snowstorms and the ups and downs of local sports teams like the Bills and Sabres, locals have embraced craft beer and quality bar food as enjoyable distractions.
When it comes to breweries, Buffalo and Western New York stand out significantly. The area boasts a plethora of exceptional breweries, stretching from Buffalo itself to the northern towns and down to the southern tier.
A standout in this thriving brewery scene is Big Ditch Brewing Company. Over the past eight years, Big Ditch has established itself in Buffalo, popular for its flagship IPA, Hayburner, alongside delicious food and a unique two-story brewery setting.
Although there were discussions about a second location on Transit around 2019-2020, these plans were put on hold due to the pandemic. Now, Big Ditch Brewing Company has officially announced a second location set to open in Lockport.
Scheduled for 2024, the new brewery and taproom will be located in Lockport’s Historic Post Office Building, conveniently situated opposite The Palace Theater. The goal is to have the Lockport facility operational by mid-2024, ideally in time for the summer season. The advantage of utilizing an existing structure is a significantly shorter development timeline compared to constructing a new building from the ground up.
Lockport is already home to New York Beer Project, which is also expanding with a new location in Orchard Park in 2024. Construction progress on this new site is visible off the I-219.
