New Bay Area Indian Restaurant to open this weekend

Pippal, a new casual Indian eatery, is set to make its debut on Saturday, November 18, in the Bay Street outdoor shopping center in Emeryville. This restaurant specializes in dishes from the coastal regions of India, particularly Goa. One of its standout offerings is the Goan chorizo pulao, a rice dish infused with chorizo, fried onions, and crispy bacon, showcasing Goa’s Portuguese culinary influences.

The drink menu at Pippal is both unique and educational, featuring 12 cocktails each named after a heritage site in India. Alongside these creative drinks, the menu provides insights into the historical significance of each location. The cocktails are modern twists on classic favorites, enhanced with herbs and spices reflective of the respective monuments and cities. An example is the Red Fort cocktail, inspired by Delhi’s largest monument, dating back to the mid-17th century.

Additionally, Pippal will offer a range of Indian beers, including popular brands like Taj Mahal, and a selection of three specialty non-alcoholic beverages. More than just a restaurant, Pippal is designed as a homage to the pippal tree, which is a traditional community gathering spot in India, a concept the restaurant aims to emulate in Emeryville.

Located at 5614 Bay St #235 in Emeryville, Pippal opens its doors on Saturday, November 18, and will welcome guests daily from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
