Family Owned Grocery Store closed by City Health Authority

Yesterday, an image circulated around the internet that showed the Fresh Plus store in Hyde Park had temporarily closed down. This was because it had violated a city health law. Here, the photo showed a poster on the door that read: ‘This food establishment is closed by order of the city health authority. This order to close may only be lifted by Austin public health staff.’ It also had the name and address of the establishment, which showed it to be at Fresh Plus on 408 E 43rd St.

The image was first posted on Reddit. However, the speculation didn’t stop there. In fact, as a result this image brought up more questions than answers, as one user went as far as to claim that it would be permanently closed due to severe health violations.

Here, one user claimed: “That one is permanently closing bc of severe health code violations, i have a friend who works there and they posted about it.” It should be noted that at this point, this is merely an allegation and they didn’t explain what the supposed violation was. However, if true then the locals of Austin would surely find out over the coming weeks and months.

First founded in 1927, Fresh Plus Grocery is a local chain of grocery stores located in Austin, Texas. They have three locations in the city, each offering a variety of fresh produce, groceries, and other household essentials. Fresh Plus is known for its focus on fresh, local, and organic products, and it prioritizes supporting local farmers and producers.
