A New Orleans transport hobbyist recently took to social media to show their ideas for a potential shake-up of the metro system. This wasn’t just a five-minute job either, and clearly, a lot of effort had gone into it. Here, they even went into detail regarding the cost of new trains, as well as how many daily passengers they could hold. According to the creator, the project would cost roughly $125-$200 million. This included new editions connecting suburban areas to the heart of the French Quarter.

Here, they started by saying: “First off, a way to get to MSY airport is definitely needed within the city, this by itself I think would be quite beneficial in the long run, with this metro going through the heart of New Orleans and connecting some of the suburbs to the main city. This main metro will also be near the lakeside shopping center, multiple parks, and the French Quarter, alongside multiple other hubs of people/businesses which will create plenty of traffic. Alongside this, the main metro line would be near/connected to in some way or form multiple streetcar routes/metro line 2/other bus routes.”

The fantasy system was originally uploaded to Reddit where users praised his simple, yet effective design. In fact, the map gained over 100 comments from locals, with the majority claiming that it was a very sensible and realistic drawing of just how good New Orleans’s metro could become.
