Starbucks is gearing up to make a comeback in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, setting its sights on a new location following the notable shutdown of its Monument Circle outlet over a year ago.

Plans are in place for a new Starbucks to be established within the premises of the Kite Realty Group Trust’s building at 30 S. Meridian St., with a target opening date set for spring 2024. This move is part of a series of planned enhancements for the building in the near future.

The upcoming coffee spot will fill the vacancy left by the local Patachou Inc.’s The Napolese pizzeria, which shut its doors in August 2021. The forthcoming Starbucks will spread across 2,700 square feet, making it roughly 35% more spacious than the typical store of the brand.

This new Starbucks will be situated a short walk from its former location at 55 Monument Circle, which ceased operations in October 2022 after operating for two decades. The company pointed to employee safety concerns as the reason for its closure. The previous Starbucks site is expected to be taken over by Command Coffee by the year’s end.

As of 2023, Starbucks has over 17,000 locations in the United States, and they’re continuing to grow. With this in mind, more locations could be coming to Indy throughout next year.
